I got a call from the Secretary of State's office yesterday.
I felt important until I realized the call probably meant I messed up my paperwork.
Who knew the marriage certificate needed to be notarized?
Not me. Somehow in the pages and pages of instructions, I missed it.
Aargh.
Yet, I am incredibly grateful that I live in a small state. Monday I will drive to the Vital Records Office and then head over to the Secretary of State's office with the officially notarized document for certification. She assured me I could walk away with all my documents which I will then overnight to our agency to get things ready for China.
I could do all this through the mail but the peace of mind it will give me to hand deliver and get it done in one day is worth it. I couldn't go today because there was a huge rally outside the state house. Couldn't get near the place. Tomorrow it is going to snow a foot, not happening. So Monday is travel day. I see a field trip in my future.
I800A update:
No word yet from immigration on our I800A. Not sure how long it takes to acknowledge our application. Soon, I pray.
Looks like we are just a few steps ahead of you. I will be so glad when our dossier is in China - it will be a celebration!!!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I want to get to the stage where everything is out of my hands. Not sure if that will be better but I am looking forward to the next step. Thanks, Shonni.
