The August Babies - Dedicating Joshua

Joshua and Peter.
Conceived around the same time,
one in the mind and one in the womb.
Both seemed impossible, miracles in the making.
My friend, Kristel, kept the faith when I wavered.
Born into their families in August.
One by birth, one by adoption.
Tied by God's master plan.
Dedicated to the Lord,
October 16, 2011
together.
We gathered at the front of our church to declare our faith and our intent to bring up our child to know Christ's love and forgiveness.
We were joined by two other sweet families.
All three children were gifts from a gracious God.
Each is a miracle that can only be explained by providence.
What a privilege to share Joshua's dedication with our church family.
Joshua allowed Pastor Marc to pick him up to receive his blessing.
Without language, we tried to prepare him for this day. He was excited to get dressed up and wear a tie so he must have known something special was happening. He loved seeing his name in the bulletin and must have known this day was for him. He had no problem going up to the front and standing with us as we declared our faith and love for him. We are blessed to call this boy our son and overwhelmed with the privilege of allowing Joshua to know Christ.

Give praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. Those blessings come from the heavenly world. They belong to us because we belong to Christ.  God chose us to belong to Christ before the world was created. He chose us to be holy and without blame in his eyes. He loved us.  So he decided long ago to adopt us as his children. He did it because of what Jesus Christ has done. It pleased God to do it. All those things bring praise to his glorious grace. God freely gave us his grace because of the One he loves. We have been set free because of what Christ has done. Through his blood our sins have been forgiven. We have been set free because God's grace is so rich. He poured his grace on us by giving us great wisdom and understanding. Ephesians 1:3-8

  1. There is something so special about a dedication. In some ways it always seemed to me almost more important than the adoption hearing. Beautiful family, and beautiful little guy!!!!
