Our guide met us at the hotel. A very nice hotel. We got checked in, decided to take a nap and meet later. She is a very sweet girl and reminds us of our Lindsey.
We walked around the city. Our hotel is very near the center. Hangzhou has over 6,000,000 people and it reminds me of New York City in some ways. We strolled up and down the streets for awhile. Couldn't afford to buy much on this street.
We decided to eat Chinese for our first night in Hangzhou. Our choices were rice, noodles, or dumplings. We went for rice. Bob had pork, I got chicken, and we only used chopsticks. Aren't you impressed?
Seems like all my posts are going to be about bathrooms. You will like this one. A see through shower. First is looking from the room into the bathroom.
Looking from the bathroom into the room.
Interesting, very interesting. Yes, there is a screen that descends. Yes, it all makes me wonder, a little.
Here is another fascinating object tucked up in the closet. Real live gas masks. Prepared for anything and everything.
We went to bed at 10:00 after watching a bit of TV. I guess Biggest Loser is popular in China. Go figure. We both slept soundly until 3:00 am and then dozed until 6:30. We're getting there. We ate in the hotel today. And we went for the Western version of breakfast. There was a lot of food including Western and Chinese everything. We had omelets made to order and they were excellent.
A happy man and his coffee. This is our "last supper" alone so to speak.
These fancy hotels are sandwiched between very ordinary apartment buildings. This is what we saw during breakfast. Lots of laundry hanging out windows.
We spent the morning getting ready to go and get Joshua. Hey, Kloey, look what we passed when we went in the taxi to go shopping!
First stop? Where else but....
We bought a stroller, bottled water, a sewing kit, a few gifts for a friend, a couple of Ultramans, bananas, yogurt and milk. Our guide said that the kids have yogurt at 8:00 before bed and milk at 9:00 in the morning. We got that covered.
We came back to the room and got our gifts ready.
Pause in the narration: Today it is raining. On a nicer day we can see West Lake from our window. Here is the view to the right and left from our hotel room. We are on the 12th floor.

After we got the gifts together, the guide left to go eat lunch. We were still stuffed from breakfast. Although I did break out the peanut butter to go with a banana. Then I worried about having peanut butter breath because it was almost time to go meet Joshua.
Bob was all tuckered out from shopping.
I felt like I was going out on a first date. I fluttered around, changed my clothes, put on earrings, fixed my hair, asked Bob which shoes I should wear, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
Here are the expectant parents ready to deliver in about 15 minutes.
Here we go for round # 9.
Surreal.
Refreshing like crazy over here!! Need to see that boy in your arms!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! (I wouldn't love that shower, though.) The gas masks are probably in case of Japanese aggression. Hopefully they'll just collect dust there.
