Our First Graduation

On May 14, 2010, we attended our first college graduation. Our oldest daughter graduated with an Associate's Degree in Visual Arts. She will be going to a University in the fall to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. I am so proud of her. She used her first two years to figure out what she wanted to do her second two years. She did it well graduating with High Honors.

Here is the graduation site.
Here she is marching in. This is the "I can't believe you are making me do this Mom," look.
There they go.
It was long. We gathered on the lawn and played with the little ones while the names were being read, all hundreds of them. Thank goodness for the other mom who thought to bring a few little cars and convinced her son to share with my sons. Clearly we weren't the only ones camping out.
She was quite impressed to be at her first college graduation. Imagine how many she will attend in her lifetime...
He's happy.
He's cute.
I think he might need another cup of coffee.
What a good looking graduate.
Oh, there she is. She didn't mind sharing the limelight at all.
Finally convinced her to put the little guy down so we could do a "grad" picture for posterity.
With the parents.
With the grandparents who graciously traveled many miles to be there.
With the siblings. They are so proud, I'm sure!
Lunch later.
Life is good.

Visit to the Farm with Farm-Woman

We got to go with Lindsey to the farm on Saturday. Just me and the littles.

Trey meeting a chick.
I am thrilled with this moment he can share with his sister while secretly hoping he is not allergic which might lead to an asthma episode later.....
Micah, on the other hand, is not so sure but willing to look. What is it about kids, their faces, and baby animals. Absolutely precious!
"Come on, Micah. Touch it," Mom says.
"I don't know about this. It is moving," Micah reluctantly suggests.
What could be in here?
"I'll be your friend."
Hungry little kids.
Here comes supper.
"I am the best helper."
Here is what is on the other side of the fence.
Three at a time! She's good, isn't she?
This is as close as Micah gets. But he is a fine pointer!
Time for outside play with Lindsey and her kids of the goat variety.
Up close and personal.
Kisses.
The Pied Piper.....
This is as close as Micah gets.
He is so adorable. I think he knows I think so.
Observing from afar, a very important skill.
Imp.
Trey is feeding corn to the sheep.
Micah is trying out the cow grooming.
Cow butts. Cute cow butts if you like cows I guess.
Outside it is spring.
Lindsey got these last two pictures for me. I gave up and handed her the camera. She flicked a few switches and got a better picture than I could.

Could Clorox Really Be a Nickname?

Nicknames?

Sounds pretty tame.

Until I got thinking about it.

Nothing totally hilarious here.

But what fun to go back through the years....

I named my children specifically so their names could not be shortened to "Jen" and "Bob". Does that stop anyone? Of course not.

Jennifer transcends to: Jenny, Jen, My little peach blossom, Number 2 (Birth order you see).

Robert transforms to: Bob, Bobby, Daddy-Bob, Bopete.

Lindsey morphs into: "Eee", Didi, Linds, Iddy.

Jerrod is slightly altered to: J-rod and Jere.

Erik mutates to: "Earwick" out of the mouth of a 2 year old!

Erika is slightly converted to: Ecka and Ella out of the mouth of that same 2 year old!

Kloey revamps to: Klo, Klo-bo and in the moment Klo-eeeeeeeey.

Cora is reworked to be: Core, Coral, and the best is CLOROX when I get her mixed up with Kloey.

I challenge you to say Kloey & Cora three times fast! See what you come up with.

Trey shortens to "A" by said one year old brother.

Micah can only be referred to as Micah-do! Mike will NOT do. I thought he might think that was his real name at one point.

Rosy
is quickly becoming "Roady" by her brothers and everyone else is falling in line. Oh dear!

I'm over the Number 2. I see what my first born goes through, I mean what I put my first born through and I'm all over being number 2. Are you kidding? It is so much easier! Why take the hit if you don't have to.

Head over to the Riggs family blog to check out other nicknames.

Can you get that?

"Hey Erika, can you get that ??? out of the cupboard."

"Trey, are you helping?

Aren't little brothers fun?

Where did he go?

When did it happen?

I want to know.

When did my precious toddler turn into my precocious preschooler!
Caught ya! Am I in trouble?

Gosh, he is so much fun!
