Today was a day off.
- We swept and steamed the floor
- Did laundry (too many loads to count)
- Cleaned out the refrigerator (It was condemned)
- The girls cleaned the bathrooms....
- Blogged
Breakfast was an event! Blueberry pancakes by Lindsey and the table was full with 2 extras:
Sophie - who has been here for a few days, and
Sean - the neighbor kid who called me mom and got my attention (pretty smart, huh?).
They were all outside at 8:00am shoveling snow like crazy. They shoveled here and around the neighborhood. They are such good and amazing kids.
Lunch was reduced to peanut butter and jelly.
Tomorrow will be a school day. We used to pride ourselves on doing school when regular school (or should I say real school, Lia) was cancelled. With everyone home today, it was too nice to do nothing, relatively speaking!

On being a blogger and boys
I think I am really going to try this time. I am not a scrapbooker but can do the techno thing. I am not a good letter writer but I am hooked on the computer. This adds up to a good combination for me. Now I am pressuring myself to include pictures every (dare I say "day") time. Here are a few to get started.
This is the cutest Charlie Brown face I have ever seen. Since the ponytail is no longer possible, the mohawk will suffice. The personality emerging in this little guy is part independent, part naughty, and excessively adorable. Later on he was seen using the Swiffer with a pair of ski goggles. Micah is officially 18 months and 1 day old.
Trey is so good natured. He is a happy guy. He loves his brother. We love them both. Trey is 2 and 1/2 years old now. He loves books. He can hum recognizable tunes, personally I think he is gifted musically.
Did I mention that I love these boys? They are so precious. It is fun being an "older mom". Way more laid back and easier in a way. I can deal with the "Are these your grandchildren" moments. I can go to playgroups with teenagers and their babies. It's worth it. Every minute.

Starting Something New

Blogging. Do I really have anything to say? I guess if you took half of what happens around here everyday, pages would be filled. Maybe this will be a fun way to focus on my kids individually and probably help me to be retrospective about each of them. Maybe I can look back after a few weeks or a few months and realize that life does happen; that we are moving forward.
So Bob is watching the US Open, Lindsey is downstairs in her cave probably on her computer getting ready to go to Sojourners tonight, Jerrod is outside with Trey, Erik is away with Stephanie and Bill, Erika is outside playing along with Kloey and Cora. Micah is getting a diaper changed and I will spare you the details of color and texture. Let's just leave it at black and white.
Kloey had a horse show this morning. I hope I can get a picture from my Dad to put on here. She was the only one in her classes so she got three blue ribbons and then went back in the afternoon to receive her Grand Champion Walk Trot trophy. It is so good to see her truly happy and feeling good about herself. Her life is a conundrum and it is hard to see her swing up and down and right and left all in one day. She is pretty good at riding and has a special relationship with Marley, her teenage mentor. This little girl deserves some joy.
Erik was home for a grand total of about 20 minutes. He was away this weekend on a junior high youth group camping trip and then came home to pack for a week in New York with Auntie Steph and Uncle Bill. It will be so quiet around here without him. We did not even get to hear about the camping trip although he looked pretty tired which probably means he had a good time.
Coming home from vacation with all clean laundry is like heaven. I could not figure out why this was such a calm day until I realized that there was no mountain of laundry to attack. I just recently dwindled the laundry pile down enough to be ready to wash the coats and snowpants and hats and mittens from last winter. If I wait much longer they will be in use again. What a scary thought. I like laundry.
Now I need to decide what to accomplish this week. Cleaning, painting, loving up on the babies, schoolwork, playing outside, making it to the beach this week? Some of it? All of it? Maybe I should just let it happen...
