Pictures of the Week April 1-7

A good week although my camera is wearing out, I'm afraid.
  Palm Sunday
92 / 365
The kids sang up front at church this morning.
Joshua sang all the songs in English.
  Twelve Hours
93 / 365
Today I left my house at 8:00am and came home at 8:00pm.
Twelve hours all by myself. Believe it or not, I missed my kids!
  Pyramid

The girls insisted I see their "cheer leading" antics.
Grab the camera. So glad I did.
  Egg in a Hole
95 / 365
We splurge every so often and have these for breakfast. Although I don't know why we don't have them more because they are super easy. We fry up the holes with a little syrup or powdered sugar for a treat.
 Maundy Thursday
96 / 365
We had the opportunity to nail our thankfulness to the cross.
  First Ever Hit
97 / 365
Four year old Trey sends the ball and
after a little coaching made for first base.
Egg Eyes

Once in awhile the camera has a mind
of its own and catches the action unaware.

'Twas The Night Before Easter

'Twas the night before Easter and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse. Except Mom, who was doing laundry, ironing, and practicing the piano. Saturday was a super busy but productive day. We did pretty well keeping the focus of Easter about what we believe. Everyone was excited to prepare for Resurrection Day.
Bob and I tag teamed this morning. I got (chose) book sale duty. Our 4-H club collected and sold books by donation as a service project.
Do you know how to spell T.E.M.P.T.A.T.I.O.N.?
Being in this room was a true test of my book fast resolve.
Especially when I sat across from this pile and realized I had donated almost all of them. Some I never read. So what if they sat on my shelf for 8 years...
Full disclosure means I must show you what I did procure.
Several copies of the same book that we may use for science next year.
Meanwhile, Bob chose (got) Easter egg hunt duty.
God bless that man.
We let Joshua join in with the younger kids because that was a better fit for him. We were afraid he might get trampled in the big kid hunt. Another first for him and he enjoyed every minute of it.
Children who share tickle the soft spot in a parent's heart.
Can you see why I chose the book sale?
Am I crazy or does that bunny look demented?
After the book sale/egg hunt, we hung around
the school gym to watch Gary the Clown perform.
Our town has sponsored this free performance for as long as I can remember.
I wasn't sure if Joshua or the little boys knew what a clown was.
Young and old completely mesmerized.
Watching a clown juggle and make magic never grows old.
Part of the routine includes grabbing audience volunteers.
Up on the shoulders he goes.
Ascending the ladder with the tall unicycle in hand.
Launched with a great big smile. At this point, Bob and I looked at each other and wondered if his heart was going to be alright. Seriously.
 His heart was just fine.
Preparing for the dismount.
 Mighty fine.
Once we got home, Easter preparations began in earnest.
First up was haircuts.
Who can resist blackmail pics of half done heads?
All cleaned up leaving curls all over the floor.
Brushing out the hair before the cut.
 What's a matter Trey?
Got a little hair in there?
And the award for the worst haircut goes to.....Micah. After I gave him a trim, he managed to shear himself resulting in damage control. This picture is after I attempted to right the wrong. Thankful that hair grows.
There's one in every crowd.
The day ended sharing our Resurrection Cake with dear friends. The kids all recited Bible verses that were on their hearts and we talked about the true meaning of Easter, discovering that Jesus is alive forever.

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is very festive at our church. We try to go to bed early on Saturday night since we have to scoot quite a few little bodies out the door early. The kids always participate in the service with palms and hosannas.
Love our church friends who have taken more
than a few of our kids under their wings.
This great guy is always good for a laugh.
Now the problem with Palm Sunday, quite frankly, is the palms.
Quite tricky to get a good picture with all that waving.
 Still only got one.
 Nope, not quick enough.
Still no luck. It's a jungle in there.
 There you are sweet boys.
Joshua was pleased to wave his palm branch.
And sangs all the songs in perfect English.

He has delighted in learning the story of Jesus and his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Looking through the eyes of a child who hears the story for the first time makes it new all over again for the rest of us.
Oh, I see how it is. Enough with the camera already.
Or we just might be our typical three and four year old selves.

Buckle Up

April is shaping up to be a wild ride.

I turned the page over and there wasn't  much white.

Twenty-one doctor appointments.

That is an average of 2.1 visits each for the 10 of us here at home.

I told you I like math. This is how my brain works.

These are all investigatory/well-child visits.

No body is allowed is get sick.

Period.

Breakdown:
2 - Jerrod goes for physical and dentist.
2 - Bob
8 - Erik and Erika get allergy shots (4X2)
3 - Kloey gets a developmental psych eval (It's been six years.),
     & regular med check
6 - Mr. Joshua sees the GI doc, Orthopedist, Boston cardiologist,
     developmental evaluation, and regular cardiologist.

Welcome to large family life. Sometimes this is how it goes. Add in t-ball and swim lessons, a mission trip to Appalachia, Easter, and regular life chalking up to a busy month.

Honestly? This is when I thrive. If I don't have enough to do, I get bored and unmotivated. My house will be cleaner and meals planned better during April.

I think God's got my number.

Go figure.

Overwhelmed

Today I left my house at 8:00am and I got home at 8:00pm.
 By myself.
For twelve whole hours.
I'm good at math!
Ok. I was in the driveway at 7:59pm and practiced taking
a few pictures to see if they were going to come out.
Eleven hours and 59 minutes.
That's still good, right?
And here is what was waiting for me.
Apple donuts with maple drizzle.
I've had two.
Trust me.
They ARE as good as they look.

Michael and Chris kept me company as I drove down the road. Don't be jealous, dear. After all I was driving your vehicle and the boys were on top of the stack. Michael W. Smith and Chris Tomlin are excellent traveling companions especially when you are ALONE, turning the volume up until the windows vibrate. Because you can!

Today, I had my semi-annual cryfest. I don't often get overwhelmed. As the worship songs played, the tears began to form. I kept it at bay for awhile because I could not find one solitary piece-'o-anything to wipe my nose on in that "Man-Vehicle." Then after multiple searches I found a long forgotten wad of tissues in a side pocket of my green bag.

Floodgates.

Why? Because God is so GOOD. All the time.

I have a wonderful Christ-following husband, amazing kids who I love like crazy, a caring and supportive family of brother, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins, an awesome church family, friends who love me in spite of me, parents and a mom-in-law who want to be part of our crazy life on a regular basis, blog friends, food, water, and so much more.

And today, I was overwhelmed. With the goodness of it all.
