Cookies For The Cast Party

Thank you, Courtney at Women Living Well, for some wonderful Thanksgiving recipes. I love the internet for finding Even-I-Can-Make-That ideas. Five of the kids were in a play this week and we decided to go festive for our contribution to the cast party.

Very little cooking and mostly assembling.

Joshua and Trey were in charge of the Pilgrim hats.

Kloey created the turkeys with yummy chocolate covered cherries.

A couple of cookies, a choco-cherry, a candy corn, and some frosting. Easy!

Erika baked sugar cookie dough and did a marvelous job decorating with LOTS of candy corn which happens to be her favorite.

The play was The Emporer's New Clothes led by a theatre company. The kids meet every day for a week and perform the musical after about 16 hours of rehearsal. I love watching kids of all ages rise to the occasion. They are capable of so much.

Introducing the show-stealer in all of his cuteness! He was the little school boy who the other kids taunted to stick his tongue on the pump handle. My heart soars when I see him having a good time and being a regular kid. I am so glad that he is able to have these experiences.

Cora was an official of the Emperor. She had some very funny lines.

We had a reluctant sheep on our hands. Which really surprised me.

He had been looking forward to being in the show because he has been waiting his whole life to start doing what the big kids do.

When showtime came, Trey rose to the occasion 

and performed his sheeply duties flawlessly.

Kloey was one of the townsfolk. She wasn't too sure about the red but I thought she was adorable.

Erika was a great assistant director and we had a fun week learning and playing.

I know you probably can't see it (the speck of white in the middle of the picture) but on the way home, we saw a bald eagle on the other side of the field.  Although sightings are not common, we are starting to see them more often around here.

There were no leftover cookies but lots of good memories.
